Worth The Berries (WTB)

[See all entries in Hector's Ultimate Pics and Tricks for Smurf Village Friends]

Smurfs’ Village is what is known as a Freemium game. It’s free to play but you have to pay for premium features. In this game, it is done by purchasing smurfberries. While you can earn berries while playing (each time you level up), sometimes it is much easier to play, if you just buy some berries. And the larger quantity of smurfberries you buy the better the deal – but you should know what is ‘worth the berry’.
Thanks Andrea Valenzuela for the WTB phrase!

Smurfberry Shop

TIP: If you play this game often enough it is well WTB!! A movie for two will cost you around $20 (US). For the same amount, you can buy every smurf (230 SB) + the wagon + the shed + 2 conch shells!!! . . . and these will last you longer than a movie!!

Note: At this time, Vanity Smurf can still be bought for coins and the smurfberry price was yet unavailable.

Turkey Statue/Wagon

Cost: 15 SB

With the February 2011 update, the Thanksgiving Statue has been replaced by the Wagon as the item that unlocks the Golden Corn. A MUST for all smurfs. Whether you like a decorative village or would rather plow through the levels, you’re going to need coins! Golden Corn gives A LOT of coins!!

Smurf Upgrade

Cost: 4 SB

The second upgrade to your houses costs 4 smurfberries. This is the most underrated use of smurfberries. This has many advantages no matter what type of player you are (XPers vs Decorators):

  • More smurfs = more plots of land = more XP/coins!!
  • Upgraded houses = less need to add new houses = more room for beautification!!

Golden Pick

Cost: 20 SB

This is the second MUST for all smurfs. The regular pick will break a rock with 15 hacks. The golden pick will do it in 7!! No other game will give you as many coins/XP as Miner’s game (see next slides).

Farmer Smurf

Cost: 25 SB
Farmer Smurf is definitely WTB. He increases your XP and coins by 25% and he harvests all your crops at the same time once they’re ready. The upgrade is explained below. Click on Farmer’s name to read more!

Plant All Upgrade

Cost 15 SB

For 15 more SB, you can upgrade Farmer to have the “Plant All Crops” feature. You can plant all your crops at the same time with one click which is also sooooo WTB!!!

Lazy Smurf

Cost 30 Smurfberries
Lazy Smurf is definitely WTB. He adds a great look to your village and his game provides plenty of XP. Click on his name to read more!

Nat Smurfling

Cost: 30 Smurfberries
Nat Smurfling adds 25% more XP from adjacent flower pots. He’s definitely a good buy but if you’re looking for more XP then the above items are recommended before buying Nat. Click on his name for more info.

Painter Smurf

Cost 30 Smurfberries
Painter Smurf is an excellent buy if you’re looking to add more color to your village. His game however gives very little XP. Click on his name to read more about Painter!

Storage Hut

Cost: 30 SB

Gives you the ability to store up to 500 items. You can store most anything EXCEPT: houses (including the special characters), smurfs, snails or caterpillars.

Let’s see how it works . . .

With the storage hut you will see the orange arrow beside the delete button. In the above picture we would be able to store the bridge.

If you click on the storage hut, you can see what items and how many of each you’ve stored. If you tap on any item it will allow you place it again.

TIP: Tt is best to store items that are high-priced (e.g. butterflies, frogs), smurfberry-only (e.g. blue or red flags), take long to build (e.g. bridges, tables), temporary items (eggs available during the Easter update, heart bushes available with the Valentine’s update, etc), and flower pots since you cannot buy them.

Note: Storing an item that has been painted using Painter Smurf (e.g. a bench) will lose its color when you store it. You can repaint it when you place it again.

Smurfette

Cost 30 Smurfberries
Smurfette adds a feminine quality to your village. She is not the best option for XP nor does she have a game. Click on her name to read more about her.

Tailor Smurf

Cost 30 Smurfberries
Tailor Smurf is solely for decorative purposes. He provides a variety of hats for your smurfs. Currently he is not a great buy mostly because a menu pops up when you accidentally tap on a non-working smurf. The more smurfs you have, the more annoying this can be. Beeline has announced they will be fixing this with their next update. Click on his name to see more info!

Hefty Smurf

Cost 25 Smurfberries
Hefty Smurf cuts the time in half to build things. His biggest benefit is with bridges and picnic tables, cutting their time from 5 days and 30 minutes to 2.5 days and 15 minutes respectively. He does not provide any XP. Click on his name to read more about him!

Baby Smurf

Cost 30 Smurfberries
Baby Smurf adds a soft touch to your village. Baby is not a good source of XP. Click on his name to read more about Baby.

Vanity Smurf

Cost 1500 coins (for a limited time only)
Vanity Smurf is a fun addition to your game if you like adding smurf hats and quotes to your photos. Highly recommend buying him while he’s on sale for coins. He does not provide a significant amount of XP. Unless you love the photo function or the look of his house in your village, he would not be a great buy for smurfberries. Click on his name to read more about him.

Land Expansion

Cost: 25 SB (x2)

There are two land expansions available each worth 25 SB. You will get a 30% expansion towards the south side of your village with each expansion.

This is the west side of the village before the first expansion (and before the Valentine’s update which removed the snow).

Here’s the same side after the first expansion. Note, I was able to place Miner Smurf along with the grey house, a garden, and the bridge south of the 2 houses that were previously at the bottom of the village.

The above picture demonstrates the 30% extra land available after the 2nd expansion.

Fruity Fun Crop Pack

Cost: 20 SB

20 smurfberries for three crops that don’t provide a significant advantage XP or coin-wise seems a bit steep (see either the Crops or Graphs section for the numbers). The only reason I kept them out of the Not WTB section is because the crops do look rather cool!

Note: Currently, there is a Papa Smurf quest that asks you to grow either grapes or pineapples. Beeline has admitted that this was a mistake since it would require spending smurfberries on the Fruity Fun Pack and they will be removing this quest with the next update. You can continue playing the game without completing Papa’s quests without Papa penalizing you.

Well

Cost: 20 SB

The well will give you 50 coins once a day. Not a significant amount of coins. I would recommend it more as an aesthetic addition to your village.

Shed

Cost: 3 SB

No special function. Purely for aesthetics.

Blue and Red Flag

Cost: 3 SB Each

You can buy the yellow, green, purple, and pink flags for 800 coins but have to pay SB for the blue and red flags. Jokey does rarely give you a blue flag. This would be a purely aesthetic buy.

Conch Shell

Cost: 1 SB

20110722-100719.jpg

For 1SB, the conch shell is not a bad buy for purely decorative purposes.

Critters

Cost: 50-75 SB

SB Critters

The Critters covered in the next section can also be bought with smurfberries however they are the most expensive smurfberry items. You can buy them for coins once you get to their respective levels. Pay real money for them at your own discretion.

Note: Some of the SB critters do provide a slight difference in the XP they give (see the Critters section) and they may have a different color: Gold vs Green caterpillar, Gold vs Pink snail, Blue-White-Red vs Blue-Yellow-Green butterfly, and Brown vs Gray squirrel and mouse.

Clever Crab

Cost 50 SB

This Clever Crab is the only critter that is solely available for smurfberries. He gives you 250XP every 8 hours. 50 smurfberries does seem like a lot of SB for a max of 750 XP/day (if you only sleep less than 8 hours/day!). You can easily make 750 XP/day using your coins on crops/flowers/other critters. The crab seems like more of an aesthetic buy for your beach.

*** NOT WTB!!!!!! ***

These items are soooo not WTB!!

  • You might as well spend your money on the Harvest Wagon for the Golden Corn rather than buy coins with SB.
  • You can add a smurf for 4 SB instead of 5 by upgrading your houses.
  • The laundry, cauldron and lamp post are all available for coins at their respective levels.
  • The SB bench/table/bridge are either blue or yellow and are also available for coins at their respective levels. Recommend getting Painter if you really don’t want them brown. You’ll get 12 color options instead of 2 this way!
Additions to Not WTB will be made below:

Shrubs (Trees)

Cost: 20 SB

The trees are available at level 20 for coins. They do look great in your village but 20 smurfberries for one tree does not seem justified when you can get them for coins. Read more about these shrubs here.

Bud Potter has created an amazing discussion post on all the sb items. Highly recommend reading:http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?topic=987&post=4820&uid=151985508172001#!/topic.php?uid=176899835673207&topic=386

Hi Hector, I was wondering if you know the answers for the riddles that are asked in the lastest update 26.1.2012 as so far they have me beat. Also are the hear mushrooms and trees etc able to be stored after Valentines day if you use smurfberries to purchase them.
    Many thanks
    Sincerely
    Kimmy

Meh. Not real happy. I read on this page that flower boxes can be stored in the shed. I thought oh yeah that’s good then. It will be worth the money to buy the smurf berries to save myself from buying them again when I want all my smurfs farming. (In other games like bakery story for example when you store something you have the option of buying something else to take it’s spot.) So I paid my money and put some flower boxes in storage and guess what. They still count towards my limit even if they’re not placed somewhere. If I had known that I wouldn’t have bothered.

I have 31 Smurfberries, so what would you consider to be the best one for me to buy? (BTW, I’m a bit of a decorator but I don’t want to spend SB on Smurfette)
    Thanks!
